PALEMBANG, (ERAKINI) – The Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) of the Republic of Indonesia is holding the 2025 Pesantren Multimedia Training Program at five higher education institutions.
This training is intended to equip young Kyai and Ustaz who teach various kitab kuning (classical Islamic texts) in pesantren (Islamic boarding schools) to enhance the capacity and quality of the pesantren community.
State Islamic University (UIN) Raden Fatah Palembang is one of the higher education institutions entrusted as an Organizing Higher Education Institution (PTP) for this training program. The Pesantren Multimedia Training is a non-degree scholarship program funded through collaborative financing between LPDP and Kemenag.
In addition to UIN Raden Fatah Palembang, the four other campuses appointed by Kemenag are UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya, UIN Gunungdjati Bandung, and Universitas Multi Media Nusantara. The training program will take place for one month, from November 13 to December 13, 2025.
Digital Competence for the Digital Era
Ruchman Basori, the Head of the Center for Religious and Islamic Education Financing (Puspenma) at the Secretariat General of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, inspected the entire process and facilities of the program, accompanied by the Head of the Working Team for Educational Investment, Cooperation, and Research, Hendro Dwi Antoro, a few days ago.
Besides the inspection, Ruchman also provided guidance and motivation to the participants, strongly encouraging them to be more enthusiastic in following the training, which focuses on strengthening multimedia skills as a means for teaching kitab kuning and da’wah (preaching/Islamic propagation) in the digital era.
Ruchman explained that multimedia training is a vital necessity for pesantren in the digital era. He believes that young Kyai and Ustaz are currently dealing directly with Generation Z, who are already accustomed to information technology. Therefore, the ability to teach, communicate, and preach through digital media has become a new skill that must be mastered.
